The Kansas Youth Leadership Academy (KYLA) is a statewide,
comprehensive, and all-inclusive program designed to promote youth leadership development. Today, our young people face many personal challenges, and the negative influences in their lives can be overwhelming. In a society that sometimes rewards selfishness and passive attitudes, we must encourage young Kansans (12-18 years old) to, first, live safe and healthy lives with strong character, and second, be active community members who serve as life-long citizen leaders.

"Leadership knows no age limits. There is no license to obtain it. No written test to pass. The test for a true leader is one that is presented every day, in nearly any situation. A true leader has courage and commitment. I would encourage you, as one of our future leaders, to take advantage of the valuable training offered by Kansas Youth Leadership Academy."
-Governor Kathleen Sebelius

Through a unique public/private partnership, KYLA and the Kansas McDonald's owner-operators are meeting the needs of developing our future leaders. The cornerstone of the McDonald's system's approach to philanthropy is to make a difference in the lives of children. Through this partnership, the Kansas McDonald's owner-operators and their 153 restaurants, are doing just that!
